Academy Closure - Parent information 24.3.20

Dear Parents/Carers

I do hope everyone is taking care of themselves and keeping travel and contact to a minimum during these difficult times. Good communication is key to supporting the young people in our care and as such I will try and collate information that is essential in supporting this.

 

Following the timetable

It is great to see so many students engaging in their on line learning, however, some students are choosing to do the subjects they like rather than keeping a broad curriculum! Please support us in making sure that your son/daughter is following their daily academy lesson timetable so that they continue their learning across all subjects. 

 

Keeping Safe

As we all get used to a new way of working to provide continuity for education, I hope that the attached top tips are useful in helping to maintain a safe online environment for your young people. Please do take the time to familiarise yourselves with the tips for adults and talk to your young people about the tips for them.

Parent Pay/Free School Meals/Refunds for Challenge Week

Please be assured that unspent school meal balances can be returned to your ParentPay Account as part of our school closure process. 

We are currently working on our plans to support children of Key Workers and to provide free school meal vouchers to families who normally have free school meals. I would ask that parents bear with us whilst we do so and not send individual requests for meal refunds. If you have not received your voucher by the start of next week please contact the academy through the enquiries@plympton.academy email address. This is also the case for Challenge Week refunds where requested.  Our staff will be working over the next week to ensure refunds can be handled as promptly as possible where they are needed. Thank you for your patience whilst we process things and we will be in touch again as the refunds are processed. 

 

Home Learning

A reminder that there is a new area on the website, http://www.plympton.academy/school-closure/general-information that contains links to many other websites and resources that students can use during this closure period to support their learning.  In addition there will be weekly (or as appropriate) bulletins emailed and posted on the site to keep parents, carers and students as up-to-date as we can. We will also be using text messages and emails so please ensure that the details we have are up to date in order not to miss out on important messages.
