Year 11 Revision Residential - Bude Outdoor Activity Centre 23rd -25th April

Year 11 Revision Residential - Bude Outdoor Activity Centre 23rd -25th April

To support Year 11 students in the run up to their GCSE exams, an opportunity has become available to take them away for three days on a bespoke revision residential. The aim of the trip is to offer students intensive revision sessions in English, Maths and Science, as well as providing them with activities - such as abseiling, kayaking, mountain biking and caving -  to encourage a healthy work / life balance.

Bude Outdoor Activity Centre is located on the North Cornwall coast - overlooking the Atlantic and surrounded by the River Neet and Bude canal. This unique location offers the perfect spot for the range of activities on offer. Whilst the outdoor activities will be led by instructors at the centre, revision sessions will be taught by teachers from Plympton Academy. The revision sessions will be led by subject specialists and students will be taught in small groups. Sessions will focus on areas of the exam specifications that the mock exams have highlighted as in need of additional work. In the evenings, these sessions will be consolidated with supervised personal study. The year group’s Head of Year, Mr Yates, and Pastoral Mentor, Miss Follett, will also be attending.

The revision residential will take place on Monday 23rd - Wednesday 25th April. This coincides with the Academy’s Challenge Week and Work Experience, so students will not be missing out on their normal timetabled lessons. Students will travel by coach from Plympton Academy to Bude, departing at 8.30am on Monday 23rd. They will return at approx. 6.00pm on Wednesday 25th. Further details regarding the itinerary and what students should bring will be sent out shortly.

Plympton Academy is subsidising the cost of this trip: we are asking parents for a voluntary contribution - to cover transport to and from Bude, food, accommodation, activities, revision resources etc - of £99.00. For those students in receipt of the income-related Pupil Premium funding, this cost can be subsidised further; please email Miss Sarah Glover, Assistant Principal, to discuss: .
