Year 11 Prom 2016
The Ridgeway Year 11 Prom is always one of the year’s most anticipated events and the 2016 Prom did not disappoint.
Held at Boringdon Park Golf Club on Thursday 23rd June, The Prom allowed students and staff the opportunity to celebrate finishing Year 11 and to look forward to the future in terms of joining Post 16. As usual, a glittering array of vehicles brought students to a beautifully decorated ballroom. Every mode of transport from vintage rally cars through to enormous party buses was represented – maybe someone will arrive in a helicopter next year.
The boys looked smart but the girls stole the show with their fantastic dresses and amazing hair and make-up. It’s clear that their proud parents will have more than a little dent in their pockets following this event!
This was an evening that the students will remember for a very long time as they come to the end of one phase of their life and begin an exciting new chapter. Great food, dancing and the chance to talk with good friends and celebrate with the staff that have supported them this year and for the past five years – the Ridgeway Prom really is a special event.
We couldn’t put this newsletter to print without taking the opportunity to say a huge well done and thank you to our outgoing Year 11. This really was a special year group in terms of their willingness to work hard and make the most of every opportunity. From Easter revision sessions through to early morning revision classes, the engagement and determination of the class of 2016 was something to behold.
We are delighted to say that the vast majority of this year group will be staying on at ‘Plympton Academy’ next year. To those students, we say have a well-earned rest and we’ll see you in September. To the students who are leaving us for apprenticeships or other routes, we wish you every success in the future.
