Yr9 student Maisie Smith has inspired the whole school community this year with her tireless work to raise money for Cancer Research. From cake sales to garden parties Maisie has shown a level of determination and willingness to help others that marks her out as a truly special young person.
But on Friday 8th July Maisie decided to go one step further…. In front of a large crowd of her peers, Maisie had her lovely dark brown locks shaved off – all in the name of charity. So inspiring was this sacrifice to help others, that Mr Strachan felt he had to support Maisie. On Friday, he sat right next to Maisie in The Main Hall as his boyish hair and trademark beard was shaved off.
Incredibly, Maisie has now raised over £1500 for Cancer Research. It’s clear why she was awarded the ‘Others First’ Award in our recent Celebration of Success.
