Plympton Academy held its GCSE Certificate and Awards evening recently to celebrate the personal, academic, sporting and community achievements of last year’s GCSE students. This year the school achieved its best GCSE results ever.

The students were presented with their GCSE Certificates and awards by Principal, Lisa Boorman and Acting Head of Academic progress for Year 11, Martin Tinkler. The evening was hosted by Martin Poveda, Head of Sixth form.

This year’s event included a special award, the Leanne Crocker Art & Design Award. This is given in memory of a former student, for the pupil who displays high ability in the subject, and who is willing to explore challenging ideas. The award was won by Jess Thompson.

Other students who were given awards included Emma Moore who won the Head of Academic Progress Award, Bailey Hodgson, who won the Every Child Matters award, Jasmine Dibble who won the Pride in Success for GCSE Physics and Sid Lale for Pride in Success for BTEC Engineering.

The event was held in the school’s main hall and was well attended by students, families and friends.

“It was a fantastic evening,” said Martin Poveda. “The students all worked so hard and deserved the recognition.”
